Gates of Vienna News Feed 11/17/2010

Gates of Vienna News Feed 11/17/2010Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi — who will soon be retired from that position when the new Congress is sworn in — will remain the leader of House Democrats. Her colleagues in the Democratic Party reaffirmed their faith in her recent leadership by re-electing her as leader by a substantial majority.

In other news, José Manuel Barroso, the president of the European Commission, blames the Netherlands for causing unnecessary difficulties by refusing to approve the new EU budget. Both the Netherlands and the UK object to the substantial increase in spending that was proposed for the budget.

At the same time, the EU continues to pressure Ireland to accept a financial bailout. The Irish are being perversely resistant to the generous offer from those who only want to help them.

Katharine Branning, a US researcher and writer, has been traveling to Turkey for 30 years and has published her experience in a new book: ‘Yes, I Would Love Another Cup of Tea,’ which has already been translated into Turkish. ‘I want people in the US to understand Turkey better. I want to show how peaceful, right-minded and modern Turkey is,’ she says.

Thirty years is a hell of a long time to be on dope. Or does anyone think any Western in their right mind would spew such nonsense without being high on drugs? Claire Berlinski, on the other hand, truly gets what the Arab Sultanate of Erdoganistan is truly all about.

Faith in Pelosis's leadership? Bah!

Why do people always believe that Americans elected their leaders?

Nobody ever takes into account the utter corruption of D.C. and how they have their tentacles stretching everywhere.

The elections are always rigged, and the Diebold voting machines are set to guarantee it.

Diebold has a good business relationship woth D.C.
